How should our models of providing tech support in schools be evolving as Web 2.0 evolves? What is ideal? What is viable? What has been done and what should be done next?
Can a visionary technology plan also be a flexible plan? Can a visionary tech leader be a teacher and a successful instructional consultant to other teachers at the same time?
Share some of your experiences and then share some of your vision. How do we get started and where are we going?

Looking forward to it

What is the difference between a webcast and a radio station for a high school? Is there a need/value for a high school radio station in this day of so much "media" everywhere we turn?
At our NYC public high school, we've experimented with webcasting author visits and a few student run sports shows. When and where should they be happening and if one of the greatest aspects of our newest technologies is the ability to share, how can we be sharing these events with other schools and finding their experiments for our students to explore?

Join in the antics of this group of elgg students as they host a Webcast with learning facilitator Lee Ann Baber. Special guests this week are Susan Nyrop, Kathy Malsbenden and Mr. Kimball with his 8th grade class from New Hampshire. Everyone is invited to join in for a lively discussion with guests and students at the end of our third live webcast.
Susan Nyrop, in her show notes to the students says "Hello, I'm Sus and I'm a friend of your teacher. We sometimes meet with other friends and talk online but we never met on the same place. I would like to tell a few personal things about myself: I'm a teacher as well, I live in North Europe, in Denmark, in a town called Farum north of Copenhagen, and I was born not far from here. I really enjoy travelling and I can speak many foreign languages, I have had many domestic animals in my life and nowadays I prefer experimenting with creative and informal computer communication. Today, I would like to talk with you about animals! The largest animals I've ever seen were whales and the smallest would be insects such as ants or bees! Taking photos of bees is much easier than of whales - at least if you have the patience to wait until the bee settles down in a flower nearby.

Apologies again for the late notice...some day we'll start posting these things more than a few hours before show time.
I'm thinking the class of 1.1 needs to start figuring out what a 'collaborative, open source learning environment' means. What role will former interns play in the operations of TWA and how will they ply their webcasting skills after graduation? What kind of advanced certification do we want to provide? How can we structure future workshops/learning experiences to serve the needs of webcasters - novice and otherwise?

When setting up group blogs or wikis in schools, one of the first set of questions has to do with the focus of the blog or wiki.
* Is the site about the content of a particular course which a new group of students joins each semester?
* Or is the blog/wiki for the particular group of students in a class, and therefore it closes at the end of a class?
Other questions quickly follow:
* Is the blog/wiki going to be public or private? Will readers be limited to those who we register or will registration be open? Who will have premission to write responses or new posts to the blog/wiki? Will there be a review process before something gets posted?
What are our expectations of our teachers and administrators? Do we expect them to model the world our kids live in or the world of our past?
