Week 1 reflection

We were off and running right away in Webcast Academy!. This first week began a bit overwhelming, but I learned to just take one thing at a time and things seemed to fall in place. I fortunately had used Audacity to produce podcasts before, so I felt very comfortable with the introduction assignments. I had a bit of a challenge with the telephony assignment. I used PowerGramo and did not really see a start/stop button. It appeared to just record automatically when I used Skype…..but not always!! I learned to watch the recording to make sure it continued during the call. I did get frustrated trying to change the settings of my MP3 in Audacity to make Flash work on WA website. I tried 4 times to upload different versions of the settings (after following directions of making it 44 hz and 64 kbs) but flash never worked with my post. I will keep trying!

Now I learned that for streaming I will not use Power Gramo, but instead use virtual audio cables, simplecast and I still need to get a USB headset. I look forward to the next step in the academy, but I know it will get a bit more involved and challenging from here. Thanks to my group: April and Mireille for all of their support and help!

Just when you think you have it.

That happens during a show too.
