Audio Issues

Hello everyone

I recently lost audio volume controls (Windows XP Prof). This was not a matter that could be put right from the control panel.

Searching the Internet Google helped me to find the following article:

with which I managed to restore the volume controls and their functions. An exe file SndVol32.exe has to be extracted from the Windows XP CD and inserted in the root system file.

The article, which comes from Microsoft originally, is good, just two points:

Bought Logitech USB micro, I think the one recommended on this site . Volume, though  (as recorded in Audacity) is too low and far worse than my old, non-USB micro -Typhoon - which I doubt is a known brand.

 Tips?  This the third course I'm trying to follow. I don't mind not being able to fly unaided by a plane, but I would LOVE to stream.    Dennis

I cannot get audio repeater. I was trying to record a two way conversation, but I was only able to record the other end not my voice. Please help. Is it the microphone I am using?

I need some serious help. I've followed the screencasts and Carla took me through the steps, but somehow my settings just look different. . Since 1.3 didn't look at all like on the screencast, I choose to use an older version. Basically, I don't get a pop-up window in audacity, after checking all the audio controls and before opening the audio repeater. I'm assuming it's something so basic that I will feel quite silly afterwards.

I've attached a screenshot, so maybe this will help.
