Audio Issues

Can't hear except for the stream...

Ok, I have VAC, Skype, a ShoutCast server, and Simplecast all working well. The only problem I'm running into is that when I configure SimpleCast to pull the audio from the virtual audio cables it does it fine, but I can't hear anything then. If I listen to the stream I can hear it just fine (albeit on a 20 second delay). What am I missing?

Audacity

I have made a number of recordings with Audacity. Suddenly oblong on top right, where you choose micro .... damned frustrating to write here, cursor keeps freezing..... blanks out, no options available. Any hints?

Multiple Microphone Configuration...

Hi --- I'm beginning to plan for some fall interviews and it would be really helpful to have multiple microphones running into a mixer, and then into my laptop. For group meetings, etc. My vision is some sort of conference call type of device. Anyone using anything that would work for this?

I have a M-Box at work, but I have not been able to get that to work -- plus they are expensive.

Thanks for any input.

- Alex

AAC+ Encoder

This new AAC+ encoder has a really good audio quality while streaming with a lot bitrate. I know that it works with Winamp on Windows but I'm not sure if Mac and Linux users are able to listen to a stream encoded with AAC+. Besides, I couldn't find any streaming software (except for Winamp and it's shoutcast plugin) allowing to broadcast with AAC+. Does anyone know more about AAC+?

Connecting USB microphones

Quick note to say that it's a really good idea to ensure that your USB microphone is connected BEFORE you start up audio applications that will look for the mic as a source.

Of course your computer won't see the mic if it's not plugged in and some applications won't recognize it unless it's connected when the application is started.

You may need to restart applications to get them to "see" the mic, once you've plugged it in.
